Imagine the magic of animals in winter brought to life as you join a park interpreter for a lively read-aloud of Over and Under the Snow by Kate Messner. Perfect for kids ages 3–7, this engaging story welcomes nature lovers of all ages to step into a snowy world of discovery.
Lake Ponder Trail, a 0.5-mile flat, paved, and ADA-accessible path, sets the perfect stage for this family-friendly event. Bundle up in weather-appropriate clothing, slip on sturdy walking shoes, and meet at the playground to begin your journey.
Can’t make it for the First Day Hike? No problem! The enchanting StoryWalk featuring Over and Under the Snow will remain on display as a self-guided activity from Friday, December 20, 2024, through Sunday, January 5, 2025. 3. Dive into a month of creative opportunities.
This January, unleash your creativity with a variety of exciting crafting classes at Black River Technical College and The GIN! Whether you’re drawn to the dazzling beauty of stained glass, the charm of quilting, or the vibrancy of acrylic painting, there’s a class to spark your imagination and help you create something truly special.
At Black River Technical College, start with a Stained Glass Cardinal Workshop on January 9th, where you’ll craft a stunning piece perfect for your home or as a thoughtful gift. For quilting enthusiasts, join the Quilted Pot Holder Workshop on January 21st to master quilting techniques while creating two functional and beautiful pot holders. Art lovers won’t want to miss the Winter Cardinal Acrylic Painting Class on January 16th, where you’ll paint a breathtaking scene of a cardinal in the snow. Finally, finish the month with an enchanting Stained Glass Owl Workshop on January 23rd, where you’ll create a unique stained glass owl mounted on a wooden stand.

At the GIN, there are several classes to choose from to unleash your creative side. If you’re into woodworking, there will be three opportunities to build your own fruit box. You'll learn to create your own crate-style fruit box, perfect for storing fresh produce like fruits, potatoes, onions, and more. Designed to sit on a counter, bench, or floor, this fruit box combines practicality with a rustic aesthetic. You'll assemble the box yourself, adding a personal touch to your kitchen or pantry storage. This class is offered January 18th and 21st. You can also celebrate your furry friend with a custom leash and collar board to keep your pet’s essentials organized. This workshop is offered on January 28th. In February, there are two opportunities to craft a heartfelt gift just in time for Valentine’s Day! In this workshop, you’ll create a beautiful wooden heart with a unique twist—a key attached to symbolize the "key to your heart." It’s perfect for presenting to someone special. This class is offered February 8th and 10th.

Get ready to bake the most irresistible cinnamon rolls from scratch! Join the fun on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 PM at The Main Dish Kitchen in Paragould for a fun, hands-on baking class. Whether you're a seasoned baker or a beginner, this interactive experience will teach you everything you need to know—from making soft, fluffy dough to swirling a rich cinnamon-sugar filling and glazing to perfection. All tools and ingredients are provided. The cost is $50, and space is limited, so register by January 9, 2025. Get ready for a fun twist on the classic bingo game with Singo Bingo! Join Main Street Paragould on January 16th at 6:00 p.m. at 1812 Pizza Company for an evening of music, laughter, and great prizes. Can’t make it? No problem! They’ll be back on February 13th at Skinny J’s, also at 6:00 p.m. It’s the perfect way to enjoy your favorite tunes while competing for exciting rewards. Don’t miss out on this unique bingo experience—mark your calendar and bring your friends for a night of entertainment and fun!

Support local businesses and enjoy some exciting events in Downtown this winter! On January 18th, gather your friends for Girls’ Night Out from 1:00-4:00 p.m. for an afternoon of shopping and special deals at Downtown stores. Then, on February 8th, get ready for Moonlight Madness from 4:00-8:00 p.m., when Downtown shops stay open late, offering exclusive discounts and festive fun. 7. Make a splash and make a difference.
Every year, thousands of brave individuals take the plunge into freezing cold waters to support Special Olympics Arkansas, helping to bring opportunity and inclusion to over 19,500 athletes and young athletes across the state. By participating in the Polar Plunge, you’ll be part of a statewide movement with up to 15 unique plunge locations. Whether you’re a seasoned participant or a first-timer, there’s a plunge for everyone! The 23rd Annual AMMC Foundation Scholarship Beauty Pageant will be held on Saturday, February 8 at the Greene County Tech High School Auditorium! This exciting event will award titles for ages 0 through 12th grade, with all proceeds benefiting the AMMC Foundation. The winner of the Senior Miss Division will be crowned as the 2025 AMMC Foundation Ambassador and will receive a $500 scholarship to support their educational journey.
