The holiday season is the perfect time to make new traditions and keep old ones alive. Here we’ve compiled a list of things to do in Paragould this holiday season. 

1.    Attend the annual Christmas Parade

The Annual Paragould Christmas Parade is a perfect way to get in the holiday spirit. This year’s parade will be on Tuesday, December 7th starting at 7:00pm in Downtown Paragould. 2.    Take a nature walk with an awesome twist

Do you enjoy nature and Christmas? If you do, Tinsel in the Trees might be for you! Tinsel in the Trees is a new event that allows you to take a nighttime nature walk with lights, sculptures and displays. The dates and times are listed below: 

  • December 9 – 4:30 to 8:30pm
  • December 10 – 4:30 to 9:00pm
  • December 11 – 4:30 to 9:00pm
  • December 12 – 4:30 to 8:30pm

3.    CANCELLED -Look at Christmas lights while supporting a good cause

While you’re out looking at Christmas lights this year, swing by the Greene County Fairgrounds for Lights of Paragould.  Unfortunately, this event was cancelled.

4.    Take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage

Downtown Paragould has two events that will be fun for the whole family. On December 4th from 10:00am to 3:00pm, there will be carriage rides and visits with Santa. Carriage rides will be $10.00 per family. Santa will be at Something Sweet. They will also have a Holiday Market where you can shop for home-made goodies, home-crafted items, and unique gift ideas.

On December 9th from 4:00 to 8:00pm you can have an Enchanting Night with horse drawn carriage rides beginning at 4:00pm. The rides will be $10.00 per family. Santa will be at the Wayzgoose Event Venue. Some downtown stores will be open extended hours.

5.    Help others stay warm during the cold months

As the temperatures drop, many people bundle up in winter coats and hats to stay warm. However, some people don’t have that privilege. That’s where Project Paragould comes in! This year they will be accepting gently used or new heavy coats, beanies, scarves, gloves, mittens, blankets, and throws. If you have any of these items, bring them by Station Park on December 9th from 5:00 to 7:00pm

In addition, they will be distributing these items to members of the community on December 18th. If you would like to volunteer to help distribute, email projectparagould@gmail.com

6.    Have a relaxing Christmas vacation

Christmas vacation can be a busy and stressful time, but it doesn’t have to be! Try a relaxing day or weekend at Crowley’s Ridge State Park. They have several events throughout the break to keep your little ones and you entertained. You can find their schedule here. If you don’t want to stick to a schedule, go for a hike, or bring your fishing pole for fishing fun!

7.    Attend a Christmas concert or two

If you love Christmas music, get your tickets for Christmas with Guy Penrod at Browns Chapel Baptist Church in Paragould. He will be performing on Friday, December 3rd at 7:00pm. You can purchase tickets at PostNet, Browns Chapel or online. Visit here to get a ticket.

First United Methodist Church will be hosting a Christmas Musical Celebration on December 12th at 6pm in the church sanctuary featuring the chancel choir.

In addition on December 19th, they will be having a Children's Christmas Pageant followed by a program by Brian and Terry Kinder. It will begin at 5pm in the church Worship Center. They will also be having Christmas Eve services featuring communion and candlelight on December 24 at noon, 5pm, 7pm and 11pm in the church sanctuary. 8.    Dance the night away

The Nutcracker

So maybe you’re not the one dancing, but you can watch as a Christmas tradition in entertainment, The Nutcracker ballet, unfolds before your eyes. Elite Performing Arts will be presenting The Nutcracker at the Collins Theatre on December 18th at 6:30pm and December 19th at 2:30pm. 9.    Keep teens occupied during Christmas break

After you’ve looked at Christmas lights or spent your day at Crowley’s Ridge State Park, venture indoors where it’s warm and watch a movie at Paragould Cinema 8. If you go on Tuesday, they provide you with a free container of fresh popcorn! Check their website for showtimes.
