SWAT

The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team is a specially trained unit responsible for responding to high-risk and critical incidents that exceed the capabilities of routine patrol operations. These incidents may include armed barricaded subjects, hostage situations, high-risk warrant service, and other serious threats to public safety.

SWAT also includes a Negotiations Team, trained in crisis communication and de-escalation, and Drone teams that provide aerial situational awareness to support tactical planning and officer safety. Team members voluntarily try out and, following a rigorous testing and evaluation process, are selected for assignment to the team. Members receive extensive initial and ongoing training in tactical response, firearms, crisis resolution, and coordinated team operations.

The SWAT team works closely with Patrol, Investigations, and regional law enforcement partners to ensure safe, controlled responses while prioritizing the safety of the public, officers, and involved parties.
