Lights, clay, action! In this creative and beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll build your very own small ceramic camera vase inspired by the vintage-style design shown above. This fun and functional piece doubles as eye-catching décor and a unique planter or flower vase.

Using pre-cut slabs of clay, you’ll learn how to assemble, shape, and attach decorative elements to bring your camera to life — from the lens and body details to sculpted accents that give it character and dimension. Our instructors will guide you step-by-step through slab construction techniques, secure joining methods, and surface refinement to ensure your piece is sturdy and beautifully finished.

Once your camera vase is complete, our studio staff will professionally glaze it in the color of your choice from our available glaze options. We handle the glazing and kiln firing process to ensure your finished piece is watertight and ready to display

Open to beginners and experienced makers—come get grounded, play with clay, and leave with something meaningful. In this hands-on class, participants will design and hand-build a unique egg-shaped ceramic plate using traditional slab-building techniques. Participants will learn how to roll and refine clay slabs, cut organic forms, and gently shape edges to create a functional yet sculptural plate. The class covers basic joining and smoothing methods, tips for maintaining even thickness, and strategies to prevent warping during drying.

Finished pieces will be prepared for firing, and glazing options will be offered. your pieces will be completed and ready for pick up 14 business days after the class. This project is suitable for beginners as well as those with some ceramic experience who want to strengthen their hand-building skills while creating a playful, functional form.

  • The glue will need to cure, or dry, before moving to the second session.
In the second session (Saturday, March 22nd from 10am to 12pm)
  • Participants will take their board from the clamp.
  • Cleanup and glue that has been pressed out on either the top or bottom.
  • Square the ends (if needed)
  • Turn the edges if desired.
  • Round the corners of desired.
  • Attach rubber feet to the board.
  • Apply food grade mineral oil.

Once the second session is completed, participants will take their finished project with them.
