S.W.A.T.

The Paragould Police Department S.W.A.T. Team is comprised of patrol officers from each shift and officers from other specialty divisions, and are on-call 24/7 in case they are needed.  These officers train together regularly to ensure that each of them know exactly what the other is doing at any given time.  Training in such areas as building clearing tactics and firearms is imperative in order to keep each officer's skills honed and as close to perfection as possible.   Instances in which S.W.A.T. gets deployed included, but are not limited to:

  • Search Warrant Service
  • Barricaded Suspects
  • Open Ground Searches
  • Bomb Threats
  • High-Risk Warrant Service

Crisis Negotiations officers, attached to the department's S.W.A.T. Team,  are specially trained to deal with subjects who may have taken someone hostage, or may have barricaded themselves in an attempt to evade arrest.  The number one goal for these officers, as well as any other police officer, is to resolve the issue at hand as safely as possible.
